FLOOR DECK- COMPOSITE

Composite deck has ridges in the vertical ribs that bond with the concrete slab to develop a composite floor system. Composite deck acts as a form during the concrete pour. Once the concrete cures, the strength and stiffness of the composite floor system is significantly enhanced.

FLOOR DECK
NON-COMPOSITE

Non-Composite Deck, otherwise known as Form deck, is steel deck that is used as a form for structural concrete.  Steel Form deck will support the concrete slab during building construction and concrete curing as a leave in place form. Alternatively, it can also be used to provide both vertical, diaphragm and axial loads with concrete fill as the floor systems in a building depending on the Engineer of Record’s design.

CELLULAR DECK

Cellular decking is typically used for sound attenuation or to provide a different finished look than standard deck profile in exposed ceiling areas where a flat bottom ceiling maybe desired.  Verco Cellular metal deck ranges in thickness from 20 to 16 gage.  It is typically called out XX/YY with XX the gage of the fluted top section and YY being the gage of the flat bottom section.  Some limited composite deck assemblies using acoustical cellular decks and concrete topping have UL assemblies.  Please see Verco’s UL Floor Data Sheet for further information.

ACOUSTICAL DECK

Acoustical deck comes in two types typically.  The most common being a deck that contains perforations in either the flutes of the deck (AC – Acoustical) or across the full panel width (FP – Fully perforated).  The flutes are then filled with a sound absorbing material, typically fiberglass, that provides sound attenuation when sounds generated in the room reach the deck. These types of acoustical decks are limited to non-fire-rated assemblies with the exception of certain acoustical cellular decks with a concrete topping.  Please see Verco’s UL Floor Data Sheet for further information.

The second type of acoustical deck is typically an assembly of structural steel deck with concrete fill that can have a tested or calculated STC/IIC rating.  In both cases, please visit Verco’s Acoustical webpage for further information.
